Full Time Theatre Technician (Sound Bias)

Dorking Halls is looking for a general event technician to join their team, with a sound bias. They will work as part of the Technical Department, supporting and working on shows, hires and events, fit-ups and get-outs as well as the maintenance of the venue including systems back of house and front of house. Dorking Halls has a highly varied programme of comedy, live music, amateur shows as well as conferencing and events. This role will suit a recent graduate or someone with prior theatre experience looking for a new opportunity!

Salary £26,954 – £29,518

Technicians (casual)

£8.48-£9.31 p/h (including 13% holiday pay)

You’ll ideally have experience working in the technical department of a busy theatre, and be used to setting up lighting/sound equipment.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring the highest possible standards of presentation for the range of activities that take place under our roof. You’ll be a good team worker and be able to demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of customer care.

Event assistants – Bar & Café

We are looking for excellent team players for our busy autumn season who can deliver friendly, efficient customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers. You’ll get to work across an exciting range of events, including big name comedians, live music and the latest cinema releases.

Your main duties will be to:

  • Deliver excellent customer service, at all times
  • Serve and present drinks quickly and efficiently
  • Keep the bar, kitchen, café & cinema screens clean and tidy
  • Prepare conference rooms
  • Be familiar with the venue’s fire safety and emergency evacuation procedure and understand your role in it

To comply with legislation all applicants must be over 18.

You must be prepared to work a flexible rota to meet the needs of the business across daytimes, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Bar, café or relevant hospitality experience is preferable but training will be given.

18 – 23: £9.83 p/h including 13% holiday pay. 23+: £10.73 p/h including 13% holiday pay.

Box office sales assistants (casual)

Culture vulture? Film buff? We are looking for lovely people who can deliver friendly, efficient customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with the key aim of keeping and attracting new customers.

Your main jobs will be to:

  • Deliver excellent customer service, at all times
  • Sell tickets face to face and via the telephone using the box office ticketing system (full training provided!)
  • Complete tasks such as reporting, filing and mailing
  • Meet and greet visitors to the venue with a big toothy smile
  • Be familiar with our fire safety and emergency evacuation procedure and understand your role in it
  • Must be available to work weekends
