Dorking Halls PatronDorking Halls is proud to announce that the conductor and broadcaster Brian Kay has accepted the role of patron. Brian Kay is an old friend of Dorking Halls as he regularly conducts the prestigious Leith Hill Musical Festival at the venue each spring and he is particularly pleased to be taking on the role of patron. He said: "My association with the Dorking Halls comes from my privileged position as conductor of the Leith Hill Musical Festival - a post I've held now for fifteen years. "To stand where Vaughan Williams stood (and even to conduct from his own antique music stand) is a very special moment for me each year and the Dorking Halls provide the perfect venue for a festival involving so many people - 700 singers and a full house three nights running. "The special atmosphere in the Halls gives the festival a real buzz - all the more so since the building was refurbished a few years back. It feels to me like home-from-home and my three festival days there every year are a major highlight. Long may our happy association continue." Brian Kay divides his time between broadcasting and appearances on the concert platform. Many will know Brian from his Light Programme on BBC Radio 3, and Radio 2's long-running series, Friday Night is Music Night. He is also well remembered as the bass singer for the King's Singers, with whom he made countless recordings, and live concert appearances around the world. |
